Gabriel Zakuani has committed his future to Gillingham Football Club by signing a new deal ahead of the 2018/19 season.
The centre-back signed a one-year deal at Priestfield having left Northampton Town last summer and played 43 times for the Gills in all competitions in 2017/18.
Manager Steve Lovell was keen to extend Zakuani’s deal and the defender put pen to paper on a new contract on Tuesday.
Speaking to the club website afterwards he said: “I’m really pleased to have come to an agreement on a new deal. I played over 40 games last season and I have really enjoyed my time here so it’s great to know I’m staying.
“I can’t wait for my first tackle already!”
Manager Steve Lovell added: “It’s great that he’s going to be with us; he’s had a very good season and I’m sure he will again next year. He’s a leader on the field and hopefully he can carry on where he finished off.”
