Gillingham skipper Gabriel Zakuani has been talking with the press about what faces the side in the coming weeks and months and insists that they’re more than up to the task.
“We need to go on a run now and we know we’re more than good enough to,” the Gills skipper said.
“I think we ruined a lot of accumulators last week at Portsmouth – I’ve had a few messages not happy with us – but what a lift it gave us all as we went to the top of the League and beat them well and they didn’t cause us much and shows what we’ve got in the dressing room.”
“We’ve good experience in there – I’ve been in this situation a few times in my own career – there’s no time to panic yet, we’ve plenty of points still to play for and it shows what a win can do – a win changes the whole morale of the whole place and it continues to lift us.”
“It was what we deserved to get the points on the board and everyone feels a lot better now. And looking at the position now with a game in hand, to get going again, to move on from where we are.”
“We haven’t played at home for a while and we’ve got the new pitch, just what to show our fans what we’re made of and that we can do it at home – they deserve a good show from us and this is a perfect time for that after beating the leaders last week.”
“It’s important to build momentum – that’s two games unbeaten in the League, at this moment we’ll take and build up the momentum…”
“There’s a lot of responsibility as skipper and a lot to do outside of football, but I’m enjoying it and am growing into to it every day and it’s great.”
“We’re grateful for the Chairman investing in the new pitch obviously and now he has, there can be no more complaints and we know now that it’s all down to us to get the results that we know we can.”
