Dover Athletic’s newest signing Ade Yusuff was disappointed that Whites did not come away with all three points during their 1-1 draw against Hartlepool.
Yusuff came on midway through the second half and helped Dover claim a point against the side from the North East, with the Englishman playing the ball through to fellow substitute Nassim L’Ghoul to slot home.
Although the former Folkestone Invicta striker said the goal was deserved, he wasn’t content with just the draw.
“It’s better to come away with a point than nothing but I think we needed to attack the game more,” he said.
“It was probably a bit too passive in the first half and then in the second half we took the game to them and carved out a few chances and got the goal that we deserved.
“We want to get three points against any team at home, especially a team like them who we are level on points with, but today we couldn’t do that.
With Dover needing a goal to level the game, Yusuff was the final sub to be used by boss Andy Hessenthaler.
“The boss said work hard and run in behind and make things happen and that’s what I tried and it worked because I was able to get the assist from that.
“We needed to stretch the game, that’s what I need to do, to be aggressive and that’s what I want to bring to the team so hopefully I can keep pushing and earn a start in the next couple of weeks.”
Dover travel to Notts County next weekend and Yusuff is relishing the game against the play off contenders.
He said: “Our away form is good so you’d like to think that we could go there and get a result. Notts County are a huge club and a former League side and one of the biggest and best teams in the National League, but on our day I’d back us against anyone if we can perform the way I know we can do.”
