The trip to Huish Park is one that Chris Powell will have earmarked for three points. Unfortunately for the Addicks, Yeovil are in good right now.
The arrival of loanees Ishmael Miller from Nottingham Forest, John Lundstram from Everton and Adam Morgan from Liverpool have given the Glovers a boost.
Gary Johnson was odds-on favourite to replace Phil Parkinson at The Valley at one stage and is now enjoying his second spell at Huish Park. Johnson plays attacking football and it could play into his hands if Charlton adopt a negative approach.
The Addicks had their best spell at Reading late in the game when Powell made a triple substitution. Marvin Sordell and Danny Green both had fine cameos and will come into the reckoning for a starting place.
Scoring is a real issue for Powell’s team. They have drawn a blank in three of their last four games and have not scored more than twice in a match all season. Yann Kermorgant still does not look fully fit and much of Powell’s attacking strategy revolves around the Frenchman.
Defeat in Somerset would leave Charlton in the relegation zone, with Yeovil leapfrogging them. Sheffield Wednesday are now just three points behind the Addicks with a game in hand, so a win is essential.
Ben Alnwick will continue in goal, probably with an unchanged back-four in front of him. Danny Green may have done enough at the Madejski to earn his second start of the season. Cameron Stewart could switch to the left in place of Cedric Evina, who failed to impress at Reading.
Dale Stephens failed to produce his recent good form against the Royals and Jordan Cousins had run himself into the ground before the end of the match. The duo look likely to continue their partnership in the engine room though.
Simon Church will probably partner Kermorgant up front, though Powell may be tempted to give Sordell a start.
The Addicks may start with this line-up:
Alnwick; Wilson, Morrison, Dervite, Wiggins; Green, Cousins, Stephens, Stewart; Kermorgant, Church.
Subs: Pope, Evina, Wood, Hughes, Pritchard, Jackson, Sordell.
The referee will be Craig Pawson from South Yorkshire.
Yeovil will be buoyant after back-to-back wins. Charlton will want to start brightly and put their hosts on the back foot.
This is a vital game and it will be a nervy afternoon for the travelling Charlton fans.
