Following Saturday’s dramatic game with Barnet, Bromley are back in National League action on Tuesday night when they travel down to play a resurgent Yeovil Town at Huish Park.
The Ravens battled out a 2-2 draw at Hayes Lane at the weekend, playing with ten men for over 75 minutes following an early red card for Joe Kizzi.
It was an encounter dominated by the officiating of Referee Mr Bishop, who also sent off Bromley manager Neil Smith and Barnet defender James Dunne, plus awarding two penalties and showing six yellow cards.
The Ravens goals came from Liam Trotter and Michael Cheek who has taken his season tally up to sixteen, but they were twice pinned back by Barnet who were on a run of five consecutive defeats prior to the game.
The point left Bromley in ninth place with 38 points from 26 league matches played, two points off the play off spots Yeovil Town go into the game having beaten Woking 2-1 at home on Saturday, Rhys Murphy scoring both goals before The Cards pulled a goal back.
The win put The Glovers up to eleventh with 38 points from 28 National League games played, only behind Bromley on goal difference.
Having been in the relegation zone in at Christmas, their fortunes have dramatically improved since the turn of the year.
Darren Sarl’s Yeovil side have already beaten Bromley twice this season, 1-0 after extra time in the FA Cup in November and then a month later again at Hayes Lane, 2-1 in the league.
The Yeovil goals coming from Murphy & Joe Quigley, before Cheek pulled one back for The Ravens. Since then striker Courtney Duffus has signed for Bromley from The Glovers already netting 5 for his new club so far, while Yeovil have former Bromley striker Quigley in their ranks.
Last season Bromley lost 3-1 down in Somerset at the end of September, a game that proved to be a turning point in the season for Neil Smith’s side with keeper Mark Cousins injured early in the game and missing most of the season with Kizzi going in goal, plus defender Marc-Anthony Okoye picking up an injury that would sadly end his career.
The loss saw Bromley’s form slip and go from being league leaders to thirteenth come the premature end of the season in March.
Having been consistently inconsistent so far this campaign Bromley need to start putting a run of positive results together to keep in touch with the top seven, while Yeovil will also be aiming to challenge and repeat last season’s play off finish.
The Ravens have lost all of their previous six visits to Yeovil dating back to 1987, but records are there to be broken.
The game will be played behind closed doors as per the current Covid 19 restrictions, but supporters can stream the game for £9.99 from the Yeovil Town FC website.
