Charlton manager Karl Robinson has praised Gillingham midfielder Josh Wright and hinted he could be open to a deal if other members of his squad leave this summer.
Wright enjoyed a sensational 2016/17 campaign, netting 14 times in all competitions after being deployed in an attacking midfield role for the first time in his career.
The 27-year-old, who started his career at The Valley, has less than a year remaining on his contract at Gillingham and he has attracted interest from clubs in the Championship as well as League One.
Here are manager Karl Robinson’s thoughts on bringing Wright back to The Valley:
“Listen, Josh Wright has been here before, he’s a player that I very much like, he’s somebody who I think could definitely play at the top end of League One. But we’ve got Crofty, Kashi, Joe and Jake, that’s a lot of players in there.
“And when you talk about him maybe playing as a number 10, we’ve got Karlan (Ahearne-Grant), Ricky (Holmes), Tariqe (Fosu), so right now it’s not a position that we’re looking to fill.
“But he’s certainly somebody who I really like, I do like his talent and mentality but right now, we’re fully occupied in those positions.”
