Two goals in the first eighteen minutes were enough to ensure victory for Bromley at Welling United in a pre season friendly leaving Andy Woodman pleased with the Ravens progress.
Andy Woodman’s Bromley team could not have got off to a better start than going ahead with less than a minute on the board but he was more interested in the fact that it was a useful run-out for the players used.
“I thought that it was exactly that.” he confirmed. “To get minutes in the legs. A few of them have been off unwell and it was a case of giving the ones that haven’t played so much some minutes so yeah, it was good.
“They were the ones that had to catch up minutes. We had a behind closed doors game this week against Millwall which went really well, and which we were really happy with, and the ones that didn’t play there played today.”
Preparations are going well and Woodman confirmed “We’re looking forward to the start of the season. It’s going to be a tough league as we all know but we’re quietly comfortable with what we’ve done.”
They have one pre-season match remaining before the start of the league season and the Bromley manager added “Our last game is at home against Charlton on Friday so that will be where we just do the final detail on everything that we want to do.”
Although the squad looks strong with cover in every position, Woodman joked “There’s always room for one more if my chairman lets me.”
Due to the late finish of last season and the play-offs, this season starts late. Woodman said “I think that it does seem like it’s been a long pre-season because we’re all itching to get back in front of supporters again so I think that we can see supporters in the distance and we’re all trying to get there.”
