Bromley boss Andy Woodman believes his side deserve more credit after they hammered Gillingham 3-0 to stretch their unbeaten run to 12 games.

First-half strikes from Louis Dennis and Jude Arthurs before Millwall loanee Kamarl Grant’s first goal since the opening day did the damage as the Gills slumped to their third straight defeat without scoring.

Bromley, promoted from the National League in the summer, were hotly-tipped for a swift return to non-league football.

But they have defied their critics and would be a good outside bet to make the play-offs.

“I thought it was an excellent performance all over the pitch,” said Woodman.

“We don’t get the plaudits we deserve sometimes. I don’t mind that, I genuinely don’t mind that.

“I think people should start looking at what we’re doing at this football club….myself, the coaching staff and the players.

“As a group we should all be commended for what we’re doing because we were one of the favourites to go down.

“It’s a big result to win 3-0 at Gillingham as Bromley football club, it’s fantastic.

“I said to the boys that little things like that [doing the double over Gillingham] are really important to me. You’ve got to start chalking up the doubles for people to start realising we’re not bad.

“We’ve just got to keep doing our business. There’s no disrespect to Mark Bonner’s team, it’s a great football club, but we’re on our own little journey here.

“It’s taken hard work and graft to get where we’re at.

“It’s not about me and it’s never been about me. That’s probably why I don’t get spoken about like these academy managers do who get jobs.

“I’ve got the right staff around me and they deserve all the plaudits. They’re humble people. We’re all grafting hard.”

Bonner’s Gills are in the middle of a slump with just one point from a possible 12 over the festive period.
