A stunning new history of Dartford has hit the book shops just in time for Christmas and we are giving you the chance to win a signed copy.Princes Among Men

“Princes Among Men – The History of Dartford Football Club” provides 540 pages of facts, stats and details the history of the club highlighting the 1974 FA Trophy Final, the dark days of the 1990s all the way through to the clubs return to Princes Park and of course promotion to the Football Conference.

One of the co authors, Gary Clark, told us, “It has been a labour of love over the last three and a half years – and that’s just the time that me personally have put into it!”

“Between us (the five authors are Gary, John Anthony, Mike Brett-Smith, Tony Brown and Steve Irving) there’s a lot of work that’s gone into two and a half kilos of pure DFC history – 540 pages with a hard backed cover of everything Dartford!”

There really is just about everything you could wish to know about the club – over 200 photos many in colour – including the story of the dark days of being homeless all the way through to returning to Dartford – but Gary was quick to stress that the clubs history goes a lot further than the phenomenal success that has been enjoyed since the move to Princes Park.

“We’ve got 125 years in the book, but obviously the most recent stiff is what people will remember – and there have been a lot of good times since we came home.”

“So people will want to read the book to remind themselves of that but there is so much more that went on before then and I really think it’s important that people don’t forget what the club went through.”

“Moving back to the borough and the new ground really was the best of times because of what had happened previously, but it’s easy to slip into but its difficult to deal with if you look around Princes.”

“Floodlights are on, seats are in the ground, there’s even a scoreboard in the corner – we restarted with nothing!”

“It’s a difficult thing to put into the scheme of things. This club’s had its’ bad days and then there were the even worse days, but we got through it all, and even though we’re struggling on the pitch at the moment, things really have been superb.”

KSN are delighted to announce that not only do we have a copy of Princes Among Men to give away, it’s a copy that has been signed by the current first team squad, and if you want a chance to win, as Gary’s puts it, two and a half kilo’s of Pure DFC, simply answer the following question:
