After a year without racing Andy Wilmot makes his return to the race track this weekend and he is back with a team he knows really well.
Wilmot will be back behind the wheel with Team HARD as the final round of the 2014 VW Cup takes to the track at Donington Park.
Having last raced at the end of last season, this day has been a long time coming for Andy and he will be looking forward to going racing.
He knows Team HARD extremely well, as he was the first driver to sign for the team and since then he has been part of Tony Gilham’s family of drivers ever since. He even raced in the BTCC for the team at Rockingham last season, in what was his debut in the countries premium four wheel race series.
Andy has been working on plans for 2015 while he has been out of the car and has made it known that he would love to be back on the BTCC grid again.
Having not been able to race in anger for a year it will be interesting to see how he gets on over the weekend, but with such a talent there is no reason why he won’t be up to speed and challenging at the front of the grid very quickly.
Speaking about his return, Andy said: “I am very much looking forward to getting back on track but believe it or not, I am also a little nervous as it’s been a while since I last raced.
“I am hoping to get up to speed fairly quickly but am expecting to be a little rusty to begin with. Hopefully, we can have a good weekend and pick up a couple of decent finishes as close to the front as possible.
“Having raced with Team HARD for a few years now, I was keen to make my return with them and we have managed to put a deal together to get out for the final round. Let’s see what happens and we are already working on plans for 2015.”
