Charlton are expected to unveil a new loan signing on Thursday morning. It seems likely the player is attached to a Premier League club and could possibly be a striker.
Dependent on what time the deal was completed, he could feature at Swansea this evening, but that now seems unlikely.
The Addicks are looking to add three players to their ranks this month:
”We’re looking to bring at least three in – as early as possible,” Bowyer said. “Or maybe bring two early and try to get one later on.
“That’s the plan, to get two in, just to help us now a little bit, and then one a bit later on.
“There’s one we’re trying to get done for today, so he can be involved in the team or be on the bench and come on,” said manager Lee Bowyer.
The game at the Liberty Stadium will be a big ask for Bowyer’s ever more depleted squad. Macauley Bonne’s hamstring knock is likely to rule him out, and there are no players returning from injury to bolster the manager’s options.
Charlton could line-up something like this:
Phillips; Matthews, Lockyer, Pratley, Pearce, Purrington; Oshilaja, Dempsey, Gallagher, Doughty; Taylor.
Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Solly, Sarr, Vennings, Ledley, Davison.
Here are Bowyer’s pre-match thoughts:
“If anything is our strength is our fight and our togetherness. Maybe the Christmas period is catching up with us?
“It might be, but I don’t like seeing my teams do that (play like they did at Derby). We’ll have to dust them down and move on. We can’t let that happen again.”
