The Tonbridge Wildcats posted a solid victory on Sunday, beating the Croydon Pirates twice in their double header, 30 – 2 and 23 – 1, at Borley Field in Tonbridge.
Facing a heavily depleted Croydon side, the Wildcats came into the game looking to get back to winning ways after their previous defeat, which saw them 1 – 2 for the 2023 Double A season.
After a low scoring first inning, where Tonbridge had 1 run to Croydon’s zero, the Wildcats quickly found their form, scoring 7 runs in the second and a resounding 14 in the third inning.
Game 2 started slowly for both teams, with no team scoring in the first inning. However, aided by a low number of available pitchers for the Pirates, the second inning saw the Wildcats score an emphatic 15 runs.
The Tonbridge Wildcats are now 3 – 2, sitting at 3rd in the BBF South East Double A league behind the Brighton Brewers in 2nd.
