Wightlink Raiders 3-1 Invicta Dynamos

The Invicta Dynamos came away from the Isle of Wight with nothing and were narrowly beaten by the Wightlink Raiders in the SouthEast Trophy.Marek Nahlik

After a tense and goalless first period, the Dynamos took the lead in the 31st minute of the game as import Marek Nahlik slammed the puck home.

However, it was to be a lead that lasted just a short while as Wightlink were level just two minutes later when player coach Jeremy Cornish made the most of a powerplay to score.

With the game on a knife edge going into the final period, it took until the 52nd minute before the Raiders took the lead with Canadian Cornish adding his second of the night.

Needing to score to get something out of the game, Dynamos coach Kevin Parrish pulled netminder Chris Douglas for the final thirty seconds of the game, but it was to prove costly as Wightlink capitalised on the vacant net to score a third with Richard Facey getting himself on the scoresheet with just two seconds left to play.

The Dynamos will look to put the defeat behind them when they entertain the Cardiff NIHL Devils in the league on Saturday night.

With Chelmsford Chieftains now five points clear of the Dynamos at the top of the league, nothing other than a win will do if they want to keep up their title charge.

They will then face London Raiders away on Sunday night in the latest of their SouthEast Trophy fixtures.
