Whitstable moved out of the relegation places with a dramatic winner in added on time to beat 10 men Redhill in windy & heavy conditions.Whitstable Town

It started out well for the visitors as the folk from Barnsley sang it’s like watching Brazil as the Yellow’s & Blues scored in the 2nd minute when a ball crossed to the 18 yard box saw Matt Byott come out to claim it but he dropped it & Sam Robinson knocked it in from 20 yards, a minute later they were in heaven when a long ball forward saw Marcus Elloitt ran on to it & knocked it in past Byott.

Whitstable were rocked by this & took a while to get their heads right. In the 13th minute Ashley Baverstock ran onto a long ball & 20 yards out try to curl his shot round Max Hunter but he was able to push it away.

Two minutes later Redhill nearly increased their lead when Matt Robinson saw his free kick wide on the left curl into the area but nobody got a touch to it.

The game slowed down for a while & then in the 32nd minute Robinson’s free kick from 20 yards was parried away by Byott & Laurence Harvey blocked the shot for a corner.

In the 35th minute another long ball forward found Matty Guilla on his own & his first effort was saved by the keeper & his second was cleared.

A glorious chance to get a goal back came in the 38th minute when a cross to the backpost found Baverstock whose header from 10 yards went past the post when it seemed easier to score.

Whitstable finally got their goal in the 42nd minute when a corner into the Redhill area was half cleared & the shot came in & Niall Egan handled it away & a penalty was given by the Assistant Referee & Egan was sent off up stepped Baverstock who shot into the bottom right hand corner.

The second half started with Redhill attacking & in the 52nd minute Charlie Holness on the edge of the area saw his shot go just past the post.

Whitstable then took control of possession for the rest of the game with Redhill relying on breakaways. In the 54th minute Baverstock received the ball on the right & his cross flashed across the area avoiding anyone touching it.

Three minutes later Whitstable got the equaliser when Baverstock’s diagonal ball to Joe Kane who passed it forward for Dan Keyte who smashed it in from six yards.

In the 68th minute a long ball forward found Mark Murrison in the area & he chested it down but his shot was saved by Hunter. In the 74th minute Craig Maguire only just on saw his curling shot come back off the crossbar.

Time was running out for Whitstable & in the 4th minute of added on time a ball into the area was headed on towards goal over Hunter & Murrison smashed it in from 5 yards.
