Whitstable Town and Three Bridges played out an entertaining game although both ended up having a player sent off.
This was Whitstable’s second home game against Sussex rivals that has ended up as a draw but this was better than Tuesday night.
The game started with it raining and it took both sides a while to get use to this as in previous games it had been dry but in the 17th minute a long ball from Jordan Wright put Tom Walmsley through on goal 15 yards out, his shot was deflected over the bar.
Three minutes later Tyrone Berry on the edge of the area lobbed Dan Eason who just got a finger tip to it to go over the bar. In the last 15 minutes of the half the game livened up when firstly in the 31st minute Stephen Smith on the edge of the area saw his shot pushed away by Giovanni Porciatti.
Then 2 minutes later Chris Saunders was sent off for a rash challenge, this gave Three Bridges an advantage which they took. In the 39th minute Mason Doughty 20 yards out centrally saw his shot pushed out by Eason then in the next minute Jensen Grant saw his shot deflected over the bar.
More drama came in the 43rd minute when unbeknown to many people the referee gave a penalty to Bridges for a push in the area, up stepped Trevor McCreadie who shot came back of the crossbar. Then in the 45th minute it was back to even numbers as Alex Laing was sent off for a rash challenge.
The second half started with a bang when in the 48th minute Whitstable took the lead Louis Sprosen’s low cross to the near post was flicked in Walmsley.
Then 2 minutes later the game was level when a free kick into the area was flicked on for debutant Joe Tennant who from 3 yards shot in.
The game then became end to end as both sides tried to get the three points, in the 66th minute a cross by Omar Folkes into the area was met by McCreadie but he headed straight at Eason.
In the 72nd minute McCreadie saw his curling shot pushed away by Eason for a corner, from the resulting corner a scramble in the area eventually being cleared by a Whitstable defender then four minutes later a cross to the back post found Berry but from 5 yards he volleyed it over the bar.
Whitstable nearly snatched victory in the 3rd minute off added on time when Smith latched on to a long ball went into the area but from an angle 15 yards out his shot went over the bar, the final whistle soon went, both sides would have to settle on a point this extending Whitstable’s run to three games without defeat.
