In this game between two play off chasing sides it was the home side who won out in a closely contested match on a very heavy pitch that suited neither sides’ passing game.
Fielding two debutants signed this week from Ebbsfleet in Ben May and Anthony Cook Bromley started brightly, Moses Ademola had a shot from out wide tipped over by Craig Ross and Reece Prestedge fired over from the resulting corner.
Jake Robinson had two efforts go close as The Hawks rallied and Sam Gargan had a goalbound shot bravely blocked by Ugo Udoji.
At the other end Prestedge played in Ademola who fired wide and the hatd working Ademola again had a powerful shot well saved by Ross after a tricky run through the home defence.
The Hawks then had a good spell and after David Ijaha had a shot saved the ball hit Referee Mr George and Gargan pounced on the loose ball and slid his effort home past Seb Brown from the edge of the box on 31 minutes.
The game was then held up after an injury to Referee Mr George who was eventually replaced by Mr Bates his Linesman.
Anthony Cook missed a good chance for Bromley when he shot wide after breaking clear, but Whitehawk had the final word of the half when Sergio Torres drove the ball under Brown for 2-0 on 44 minutes and send the home side in well on top.
The second half saw the home side start the better Robinson had a shot blocked after a good spell, before Bromley battled back and got back into the game.
Ademola created his own chance out wide before cutting in and beating the advancing Ross with a great finish on 5 1minutes.
If Mark Goldberg had hoped this would be the catalyst for a comeback it didn’t materialise and on the hour mark he rang the changes to try and freshen things up.
The play from then on was often bogged down in midfield and neither side created good clear chances.
The closest Bromley came was when Danny Waldren curled a shot from distance wide of the target and The Hawks coped well in defence and ran the clock out for a vital win in the play off hunt while Bromley are now without a win in four competitive matches and missing the leadership of injured captain Rob Swaine and his fellow centre back Jack Holland who was suspended.
Next up The Ravens travel to fellow play off chasers Basingstoke for another tough asignment on Saturday 24th.
