Welling United start their hectic March by entertaining Macclesfield Town in a Skrill Premier match on Saturday.
On Tuesday Welling entertained Gateshead and deserved their 2-0 win taking them back into the top half of the table.
Earlier in the season, Macclesfield got the better of Welling at their Moss Rose Ground. A subdued Wings performance saw them concede in the 64th and 67th minutes, Connor Jennings and Chris Holroyd grabbing the goals. Ross Lafayette’s pulled one back when Welling finally got going, but it proved no more than a consolation.
This will be the Silkmen’s third away game in eight days. On Saturday, they lost 3-2 at Woking with Akpo Sodje coming off the bench to make his Macclesfield debut on loan from Tranmere Rovers.
Then, on Tuesday, they travelled to troubled Hereford United and returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win.
Whilst Macclesfield’s league form has been inconsistent, they enjoyed an excellent cup run which included a spectacular 4-0 win over Swindon Town. They then defeated Brackley to reach the third round and a home tie with Sheffield Wednesday. A 1-1 draw meant they had to go back to Hillsborough and although they pegged back an early goal, three goals in the last twelve minutes ended their run.
There is only one point and one place between Welling and Macclesfield and the game promises to be another excitement instalment in an enthralling season for the Wings.
