Despite being the better team, Welling United came home from Hereford United empty handed last weekend and will be keen to get back to winning ways on Saturday.
They host Kidderminster Harriers who are another team amongst the pre-season favourites.
Last season, the only club from Worcestershire to have ever played in the Football League, missed out on the title by just two points. This season has not started as well as hoped having won three and lost three matches and they were also defeated last Saturday.
Manager Steve Burr has taken action by signing free agent Amari Morgan-Smith who had a successful five match loan spell at Aggborough last term.
Although they had tough fixtures in their first month in the Skrill Premier, the Wings have started well and can look forward to Saturday’s challenge.
Welling were only able to name four substitutes at Hereford last weekend but Loui Fazakerley has returned from a business trip and with Jamie Day and Kiernan Hughes-Mason both coming through 90 minutes of a Kent Senior Cup game on Tuesday, things are looking better for the club.
Goalkeeper Lee Butcher, whose short term contract expired at the end of August, has now been signed for the remainder of the season. He already has two clean sheets out of six played, and will hope to add to it on Saturday.
Saturday is the fourth annual Non League Day, celebrating semi-professional and amateur football. Welling are embracing it by offering reduced admission for all supporters before 14:00 and for any Premiership, Championship or Leyton Orient supporter who can produce a season ticket right up until kick off. Members of the emergency services and armed forces can also take advantage of the offer. There is an under 7 four team tournament kicking off at 12:15 with the final at 13:30.
