Welling United will look to maintain their position at the top of the Conference South as they entertain Basingstoke Town at Park View Road on Saturday.
Having won their last eleven home league matches, the Wings harbour hopes of extending their run but they can expect to be stretched all the way by their visitors.
The Dragons became the first team this season to win at second placed Salisbury on Tuesday night. They reached the play-offs last season, courtesy of a final game of the season draw at Welling, and Jamie Day’s high flyers can expect another tough challenge this time around.
Last Saturday’s game at home to Maidenhead provided plenty of excitement as Welling twice came from behind before Jake Gallagher claimed a dramatic 93rd minute winner.
In the first meeting between the clubs, Welling claimed all three points with Ross Lafayette’s goal proving to be sufficient.
The match will be sponsored by John Parry, CEO of Parry Marketing Trust, and will be raising funds for ‘Our Armed Forces Veterans’. Three former top tier footballers will be in attendance to promote the cause. Charlton Athletic and West Ham United legend Billy Bonds will be joined by ex-Chelsea stars Paul Canoville and Kerry Dixon.
Under 12’s, accompanied by an adult, are able to gain free admittance to a game that promises to be another exciting encounter.
