Having returned to winning ways on Saturday, Welling United will look to back it up on Tuesday evening when they host Enfield Town.
Rod Stringer’s Wings have not had a lot of good fortune in recent weeks but there was nothing lucky about their win at St. Albans City on Saturday. Anointed Chukwu scored for the Wings in the fifteenth minute and they were good value for their lead at half time. After the break, the Saints had the benefit of the slope and enjoyed more of the possession but Welling defended well and Rhys Lovett was only called upon to make one straightforward save.
While that game was going on, the Towners were losing four-two at home to Aveley. Jack Smith put them ahead approaching half time but Manny Ogunrinde levelled before the break. Josh Anifowose put the visitors ahead just after the hour mark before Harry Ottaway equalised soon after.
As the game moved into the closing stages, Aveley went back ahead through Razza Coleman De-Graft and they made sure of taking the three points when Charlee Hughes curled home a fourth.
Away from home in the league, Enfield Town have won just once, at Bath City, and lost their other six matches. They have struggled at the back having conceded thirty-two goals in thirteen matches, including eight in their last two.
It will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs so there is no previous head to head form to compare.
Stringer, who had to serve a touchline ban on Saturday with Kevin Watson taking charge, may have to make at least one change to his starting line-up. TJ Bramble returned from injury at St. Albans but only lasted forty-five minutes before making way for new signing Garrett Kelly. Anthony Grant also missed out but may be available to return.
Zane Walker and Ben Wells have returned to light training but may not be available for selection yet. Harvey Walker, remains a long term absentee while Teddy Perkins and reserve goalkeeper Javarn Pitterson are still out.
