On Saturday afternoon Welling United entertain Chippenham Town at the J. Hearndon Skip Hire Community Stadium in the National League South.
Danny Bloor’s Wings have had a tough spell recently with three consecutive league and cup games against full time clubs. Last Saturday, they went to Torquay United and for only the second time this season, they were played off the park.
However, on Tuesday evening they entertained Maidstone United and had the better chances, and finished the stronger in a nil-nil draw. When they play Chippenham on Saturday, they can expect another competitive game.
So far this season, the team from Wiltshire have won four, drawn four and lost five. Away from home, they have only been defeated once, two-one at Torquay. However, they have lost their last two matches, at home to Dartford, four-one, and when hosting St. Albans City two-one.
When the two teams met at Park View Road last season, they shared the points in a one-all draw. Alex Bray put the visitors ahead just after the hour mark but Kodi Lyons-Foster rescued a point with a close range finish, twelve minutes from time.
Bloor should have goalkeeper Ben Winterbottom back after missing the last two games on concussion protocol. However, the Welling manager may choose to retain youngster Javarn Pitterson following his confident clean sheet against Maidstone. Mitchell Dickenson will be absent but it remains to be seen whether James Vaughan is back in contention.
