Welling United picked up three valuable points at home to Aldershot Town before announcing their new manager.

FOOTBALL (WELLING HOME)

Caretaker manager Jamie Turner was forced to make one change from the team that drew at Ebbsfleet one week earlier.

Joey Taylor’s harsh dismissal meant he had to sit the match out so Malachi Hudson came in and the formation was changed to 4-4-2.

All the early chances went to the visitors and Jamal Fyfield had to be alert to get back and make a clearance off the line.

However the Wings grew into the match and Tyrone Marsh was set up by Hudson but shot straight at Phil Smith in the Aldershot goal.

Marsh made the most of his next chance in first half injury time. Again, Hudson was the creator with a perfect through ball that Marsh stroked beyond Smith.

Dan Fitchett might have equalised moments later but failed to hit the target when well placed.

Seven minutes in the second half, Welling scored again leaving the Shots with a mountain to climb. Once again, Hudson provided the assist with a pull back that was finished clinically by Kieron St. Aimie.

Smith then made an excellent save from a Joe Healy shot from the edge of the area then Aristide Bassele headed wide from Sam Corne’s cross.

FOOTBALL (WELLING HOME)

Sam Hatton had a shot saved by Benji Buchel as the visitors came back and the pulled one back in the 65th minute. Buchel did well to block a Brett Williams shot but Glenn Wilson followed up to finish.

The visitors then enjoyed a lot of possession but struggled to break down the Wings defence and Welling added a third with ten minutes remaining.

Bassele’s back-heel sent Marsh away and he looked up before he fired across Smith and inside the far post.

There could have been s fourth three minutes before time but St Aimie’s shot came back off the far post.
