For the second consecutive Saturday, there was late drama at Park View Road and once again Jake Gallagher popped up to score an injury time goal to keep Welling top of the Blue Square Bet South.
As had happened in their two previous matches, Welling conceded just before the break giving themselves a lot to do in the second half.
At Weston-super-Mare, they conceded in the 45th and 89th minutes, at home to Maidenhead they went behind to a goal just before the interval, and again against Basingstoke on Saturday they went behind at a time when some had already started queuing for their half time cuppa.
Lee Clarke drew a good save from Ashley Bayes, and Ross Lafayette twice threatened before Basingstoke came into the game.
Rob Rice headed over before Delano Sam-Yorke created a chance for himself but Sam Mott was out quickly to block with his legs.
Jamie Day and Jack Obersteller caused a degree of discomfort with dead ball deliveries but Welling failed to create clear cut openings and they fell behind at a time when they are starting to appear vulnerable as Manny Williams converted a half cleared cross just inside the post.
Midfield battles dominated the second period and neither goalkeeper was bothered before Giannoulis Fakinos came on for his Welling debut in place of Clarke in the 75th minute.
Almost immediately he caused problems with a cross that Bayes punched away unconvincingly but when the ball eventually fell to Kiernan Hughes-Mason he was unable to hit the target with his powerful effort.
Mott then made his first save of the half, doing very well to keep out a Nathan Campbell header.
Fraser Franks looked to have created the last chance of the match with a low cross that just eluded Jon Main, on for Guthrie, and Lafayette but four additional minutes gave Welling time to produce one last opportunity.
Fakinos played the ball into Lafayette who knocked it into the path of Gallagher and the Welling midfielder swept home.
