Three points against Macclesfield Town following their unbeaten February have all but guaranteed that Welling United will remain in the top division of non league football next season.
There was a blip when Welling drew at home to Dartford then became the only team so far to lose to Hyde, but clever use of the loan market has enabled Jamie Day to bolster his squad and push Welling into a comfortable price in mid table.
Jamie Turner came in for his first game of the season in place of the injured Lee Butcher, and has he has done in previous seasons, kept admirably.
Midfields dominated early on but Welling had the early shots on target as Rhys Taylor made comfortable saves from Ross Lafayette and Harry Beautyman.
Danny Andrews had Macclesfield’s only shot on target with a crisp first time shot from Jack Mackreth’s corner that Turner did well to smother.
Toby Ajala then came close at the other end and Beautyman shot over as the teams went into the break goal-less.
Blaine Hudson shot over from close range shortly after the break but notched his first Welling goal on 62 minutes.
Although a corner had been cleared, Harry Beautyman chased down a long ball back in and just kept the ball in play. He had time to look up before hooking in a cross that Hudson met with a flying header giving Taylor no chance.
On the break, Welling again threatened and Tobi Sho-Silva was thwarted by the outrushing Taylor.
Chris Holroyd, on for Danny Whitaker, headed wide of the near post but Welling did not look troubled and closed out the game comfortably to leap-frog the Silkmen into eleventh place.
