Tonight South East Counties Football League Premier Division football returns to Welling Town when they entertain league leaders Glebe.
Both teams were in goalscoring mood on Saturday in their respective Kent Senior Trophy Second round matches.
Darren Manning’s Boots beat Greenways five-one. They went ahead in the second minute when James Miles struck home from over twenty yards out. However party was restored five minutes later when Simon Walton spun and rifled into the roof of the net.
Ollie Sotoyinbo scored from a corner just before the half hour mark to put the Boots back ahead and Luke Coleman made it three shortly afterwards. Sotoyinbo notched a fourth with a brilliant individual goal two minutes later but there was no further scoring until he completed his hat-trick with a tap-in with a minute remaining.
Meanwhile Glebe enjoyed a five-nil victory over Lydd Town. They saved most of their scoring for the second period having gone in at half time one-nil up courtesy of a goal from Aaron Watson. Just before the hour mark, Charlie Penney made it two and four minutes later Ainsley Everett put the game beyond doubt from the penalty spot.
Jamie Philpot came off the bench and bagged a brace to take him onto thirty goals in all competitions so far this season. Goalkeeper Billy Johnson, on loan a one month loan from Maidstone United. Made his debut covering for the injured George Kamurasi.
There was no corresponding fixture with Welling the home team last season due to the season being curtailed so the two teams will be grateful to be able to lock horns again.
