A busy summer for Welling Town has taken another turn with manager Louis Dean being replaced in the dugout by Danny Wakeling.
Dean has overlooked a hugely impressive time in the history of the club as they were promoted from the Southern Counties East League Division One into the Premier Division.
With one month until the start of the season, Wakeling has taken over less than 48 hours after the announcement surrounding Dean’s departure.
The club announced on their official website that “following promotion, unfortunately, we have been unable to reach agreement on a sensible, sustainable budget moving forwards at a new found level of football, that will allow us to be both competitive, but also realistic, about the season(s) ahead.”
The new gaffer spent last season at Kent Football United who finished 14th in the SCEFL Division One in 2018/2019.
He has also spent time in charge of FC Elmstead, Bromleians and Seven Acre and Sidcup, who have since switched their name to Sporting Club Thamesmead.
The club start their pre season campaign on July 13th at home to Kennington FC.
