Management and players have been added to the Welling United ranks as they look to put the last two seasons of disappointment behind them.
Both new player/manager Jamie Coyle and player/coach Jack Parkinson are expected to be in the Wings starting eleven so it was vital that Coyle chose an assistant manager that he can trust. He was delighted to appoint someone with extensive coaching, management and scouting experience in Hugo Langton.
Langton is excited at the prospect and was very happy to accept the opportunity to work with Coyle. “I’ve known Jamie for a long time” He said. “We’ve done training courses together and we’ve always kept in touch. When he expressed his desire to work with me, the feeling was mutual as I believe he is going to be a very good manager.
“I’ll use my experience and attention to detail to help him on and off the pitch and hopefully we can build a side that can compete well in this league.”
Experience of the Vanarama National League South won’t be an issue for him as he explained. “I know this league inside out and have worked in it for the last four years with Bromley, and more recently Eastbourne Borough. We had two interesting games with Welling last season, especially the crazy game at Priory Lane not so long ago (Borough scored four in the closing minutes to win 7-3).”
Now he is focused on concentrating on the Wings, stating “I’m excited by the season ahead and I look forward to giving my all to Jamie, the staff, the players and the football club.”
On the playing side, only Alex Cathline and Chris Lewington have been confirmed as definitely returning.
However, three new signings have been announced this week. Former Liverpool and England youth player, David Moli, had spells with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Stoke City before signing for Boreham Wood. He moved on to Hayes and Yeading United and then Dunstable Town.
After that he tried his luck abroad, first in the Maldives with New Radiant FC before returning to England with Bedford Town. He then moved to France and joined Epinal. Last season he played for Nuneaton Town before going to Poland with Stomil.
The other two signings have had more orthodox football careers so far. Kaka Dembele came up through the Dartford ranks, playing for their youth team when Coyle worked there, but never managed to establish himself in the first team and left the club by mutual consent.
Tom Bradbrook is another former Dart returning after a year out of football. He is also well known to Coyle as the two had a spell together at Leatherhead.
