Welling United General Manager Barry Hobbins says no offer has been made by Hartlepool or any club for leading scorer Andy Pugh.
The Wings boss was responding to a story run by Sky Sports suggesting that Hartlepool United had made a bid for the former Gillingham striker.
Responding to the report, Hobbins told www.wellingunited.com : “We haven’t received a serious bid for Andy Pugh from any club.
“We had an email from someone claiming to be from Hartlepool United asking to take him on trial for a few days which we refused. I’m disappointed that this has now been made out to be us rejecting a bid for him.”
Hobbins was keen to say that Andy Pugh has been fully kept informed and is happy playing at Park View Road for the Wings, he continued…
“People can judge him on what he has done for us and if we keep him then hopefully he will continue to score goals for us. Andy has been kept fully informed of the situation throughout the season and is happy to be at Welling United.”
Pugh had a trial with Leyton Orient a few weeks ago, but the League One club have thus far decided against putting in an offer for the striker who has bagged 15 goals in the Blue Square Bet South league this season.
