Another home game awaits Welling United as they entertain Nuneaton Town in a Skrill Premier match on Saturday.
The Wings are still unbeaten in all competitions in November and have only lost twice in their last thirteen league and FA Cup games.
After last Saturday’s thrilling cup victory over Luton Town last weekend, Welling visited Barnet on Tuesday night and were the better side in an entertaining 0-0 draw.
Harry Beautyman and Doug Bergqvist both started after spells out injured although the latter had to withdraw at half time as his troublesome knee gave him further problems.
Anxious eyes watched Jack Obersteller being carried off on a stretcher at the Hive but the consistent full back was able to walk gingerly back to the changing rooms at the end and has not ruled out playing against Nuneaton.
Loick Pires has given manager Jamie Day some further good news by returning to training on Thursday. Meanwhile, long term absentees Luis Cumbers and Connor McLaren have spent a week away at an injury rehabilitation centre.
After Saturday’s game, consistent centre back Fraser Franks will look forward to joining up with the England C squad for their game at Woking next Tuesday against the Czech Republic Under 21s.
Nuneaton have had a less happy time of late, and a one nil defeat at Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night took their winless streak to nine league matches. They still remain just two points behind the Wings, and prior to their run they recorded five consecutive league wins.
Jamie Day and the players will be aware of the dangers posed and will be hoping that the Welling supporters get behind the team as they did last Saturday and on Tuesday evening.
