Danny Webb had an injury plagued 2013 and he is now fully focussed on 2014 although he is still searching for a ride for the coming season.
Webb from Tunbridge Wells is hoping to be able to race in either the British Superbike Championship or the Pirelli Superstocks after World Supersport was ruled out as an option.
Speaking to Kent Sports News about the injuries last season and raising funds for the coming campaign, Danny said: “I am all healed up now and I did have quite a few injuries last year, but at the end of the year I got on a World Supersport bike and it all went pretty well.
“Our plan was to ideally stay in the World Supersport class but we couldn’t get the budget together to stay there so it is quite tough.”
With his original plans not having come off Danny is now turning his attention to championships closer to home, so that he can get experience rider on bigger cc machines.
He added: “I am still looking and I am still trying to talk to some teams, I am trying to get a decent amount of money for someone to run me. I would like to try and get it tied in with the TT ride, and therefore I need to be on a big bike so that I can get more mileage on that type of bike.
“It is just one of those situations at the moment where I am just trying to get on a big bike and get back out there riding. I am open to anything at the moment but I would like to be in the British Superbikes or the Superstock Series ideally.
“We are just trying to talk to some people and get something sorted out. A few people have given me some contact details so hopefully we can speak to them and see if they can do anything.”
Danny will be competing in the Isle of Man TT this season for the first time and it is something that he has always wanted to take part in.
“It is going to be my first time on the TT circuit and as well as that I have the North West 200 race lined up. As it is my first time on the TT course it is going to take a hell of a lot of learning and a lot of years of experience to have a good result in it.
“We have got to start somewhere and it has always been a dream of mine to do it, and I always thought I would do it towards the end of my career but it has come around now that it has been the perfect time and place to do it.
“It is basically about watching videos and I am going out there next week just to drive round in a car but we won’t be able to get practise around there until the week before the race day. Although the weather plays a big part of that as if it is raining they don’t run.
“I am not going to get much practice before the race but that is why I want to get as much done in a car as possible. I know it isn’t the same and we aren’t going to be doing the same speed but I am still going to know what is coming up next.”
If Danny can’t secure a ride for the coming season it will be frustrating for him to sit out, although he has an option to run his own bike.
He said: “I want to race motorbikes you know that is the main thing, it is the money and the political side of things that are stopping me at the minute. I am just trying to raise some money and get out there, if nothing happens we will try and run our own bike. It takes a lot of hard work, a lot of effort and a lot of money.
“I am pretty sure we can get a bike at trade price, I don’t think that will be too much of a problem to be honest. It is just everything else that comes with it, you have got to get a race truck and you have got to get an awning and other wheels and spares and it all adds up.
“We are talking and if we can get some money together we have somewhere that we can go we are just trying to get the money together.”
