Kent have signed former England Under 19 captain Joe Weatherley on loan from Hampshire for the 2017 season.
The 20-year-old batsman made his professional debut in April 2016 and has scored one half-century in two first-class appearances.
The right-hander, who also bowls off spin, has played two matches in the Royal London One-Day Cup games and five times in the NatWest T20 Blast.
Weatherley said: “I’m delighted to join such a great club and work with Matt Walker, Sam Northeast and the squad.
“I know Adam Rouse from his days at Hampshire and he’s had lots of positive things to say about Kent so I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
Kent captain Sam Northeast said: “Joe is a promising young cricketer with a lot of potential.
“He has joined us for pre-season training and gives us an extra option with the bat.”
