Watkins Glen next up for Conway

Kent’s Mike Conway will contest the third leg of the Patron North American Endurance Cup this weekend as he teams up with Eric Curran and Felipe Nasr in the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-V.R for the third time this season.

With his No. 31 teammates and the sister No. 5 Action Express Racing car leading the 2018 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Mike Conway will be joining them this weekend for the sixth round of the year and the third round of the Endurance Cup – in which the No. 31 leads the NAEC standings.

After impressive races at Daytona and Sebring, where the No. 31 Cadillac came home in second and third place respectively, Mike will be hoping the team can reach the top step this weekend at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International. Action Express Racing currently owns four Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen wins: GRAND-AM DP/overall in 2012 and 2013 and the WeatherTech Championship Prototype and overall win in 2016 and 2017.

The legendary 3.4-mile Watkins Glen International, nicknamed “The Glen”, is an automobile race track located in Watkins Glen, New York, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake. It was long known around the world as the home of the Formula One United States Grand Prix, which it hosted for twenty consecutive years (1961–1980), but the site has been home to road racing of nearly every class.

Mike is excited to rejoin the team for the 6-hour race and hopes he can help them as they push towards the championship title.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend at Watkins Glen, it’s a circuit I haven’t driven on since 2009 in Indycar so I’m excited to try the track in the Cadillac! The team has had a great season so far, with both cars sharing the lead of the full championship and the No. 31 leading the Endurance, so I need to be at my best so the team can pick up maximum points.”
