Watford at Vicarage Road will be a tough ask for any club this season. Opponents will have to get their shape and tactics spot on if they are to get anything in Hertfordshire.
Charlton are likely to persevere with their 3-5-2 shape and Chris Powell will have some personnel decisions to make.
Chris Solly has had an injection in his troublesome knee and has resumed training. Lawrie Wilson is comfortable with the wide right role in this system and Powell may decide not to risk Solly. After a two week gap between fixtures, Championship clubs will play three games in a week.
The Addicks will travel to Huddersfield next Tuesday then face Millwall at The Valley on the following Saturday. With such a busy schedule, Powell will not rush Solly back unless he is 100% fit, though he could be on the bench at Watford.
New signing, Cameron Stewart, may also have to be content with a back up role, Rhoys Wiggins will be the manager’s choice for the wide left role.
Bradley Pritchard and Johnnie Jackson will play on the right and left of the central trio, with either Dale Stephens or Mark Gower being in the middle.
Stephens did well in the role at Huddersfield in the Capital One Cup match and retained his place for the visit of Leicester.
Stephens may have done enough to confine Gower to bench duties again.
The defence and attack will not cause the manager too many problems, warranted everyone is fit, Powell is likely to retain faith with those who started against Leicester.
