After their surprise home defeat to Lordswood last weekend, Tommy Warrilow will be looking for his Faversham Town side to respond when Sutton Athletic visit the Aquatherm Stadium this weekend.
Speaking to KSN, Warrilow said, “Every weekend is a big weekend now as it’s not the fact that we lost last week, it is the fact that we lost with the games starting to run out.”
“Every loss now will hurt everybody in the League as it’s a tight League. There will not be any massive over reaction from us – we’ll just get on with it!”
“It was disappointing to lose Saturday, but our second half performance was good enough to win the game. I sound like a stuck record as I’ve said it to everyone I have spoken to this week as I honestly believe that.”
“We have got to carry on what we’re doing – obviously, you cannot give the opposition two goals in the first six minutes – there’s no extra pressure or panic or whatever as there are still points left to play for.”
“You dont take anything for granted in football. There is no easy game in the SCEFL and Sutton will be no different on Saturday – you see results thrown up every single week, so I will treat them the same as anyone else.”
“All we can do is to prepare ourselves as best we can and that should – with the emphasis on should – get us over the line and another win. We have a clear week again next week, so it is important we go into the weekend and come away with maximum points.”
“Every game now is high pressure down at Faversham even before I walked through the door. The stigma of the Club has changed one hundred percent in a positive way, and I am just delighted to be part of it… bring on the pressure because I love it!”
“You want to be at Clubs where that sort of pressure is on you as it shows you’re at an ambitious football club.”
“The hurdle that is in front of us now is getting out of the SCEFL, and then when you are out of that, then the one above.”
“The Club are gearing up to growing not just on the pitch, but to continue what’s going on off the pitch as there’s so much being done by the Chairman and the board down there that its vital that we match it on the pitch.”
“I have come in as things were not going as well as they wanted, but that’s football. But even from my point of view, I don’t take anything for granted – I’ve told the players that this is a results business and it’s about being honest as well!”
“The only plus that I would take is the short amount of time that we have been here, the only performance that I have been disappointed with – apart from the first twenty minutes last week – was the home game against Glebe.”
“It was First v Second and we really did not turn up for the game and didn’t deserve anything. Apart from that, I genuinely believe that we should have won every game we have played – but we have not!”
“It is fine margins and in football it is those fine margins that are the difference between no points, one points and three points…”
