Kent cricket coach Matt Walker has sent Neil Harris and his Gillingham squad a message of support, backing the Gills to maintain their League One status against Rotherham United on Saturday lunchtime.
In a message that we delivered to the Gills boss at this week’s press briefing, Walker told his opposite number, “Want to wish you all the very best for Saturday. Appreciate it’s a big game and from myself and everyone at Kent Cricket Club, we wish to all the very best – we’re right behind you all the way!”
“You’ve done a brilliant job since you’ve come in and hope on Saturday you finish the job off nicely – we’re right behind you mate, and fingers crossed for a positive result. All the very best…”
Talking to KSN, Walker continued, “I’m not sure that there are actually too many Gills fans in the dressing room, but they are a Kent side and I know the lads that love their football are only too well aware of how they’re doing.”
“From my point of view, I know the club pretty well as my son was there for a while, and I wish everyone all the very best as it would be very sad to see the worst result possible for Gillingham – as I said I think Neil has done a magnificent job since he’s come in.”
“I know a couple of the younger players – though not particularly well – but know of them and have watched them play growing up whilst my lad was around Gillingham.”
“I always keep an eye on their scores every week – it’s on my app and highlights the score every time! I wish everyone at Priestfield on Saturday all the very best and hope they get a win as it will be great for the county and Gillingham…”
