Dover Athletic 2-3 Bromley

Bromley secured a vital three points away from home at high flying Dover with a display of character and strength against ten men in front of a bumper Bank Holiday crowd.Dover vs Bromley 1

The game started in open fashion with the play flowing from end to end, but it was the home side who took their first real chance when Rob Swaine was caught out by a long ball over the top which Ricky Miller latched on to and coolly finished past Alan Julian.

The Ravens gave the ball away far too cheaply in midfield and looked off the pace for a spell as Dover pressed for a second. Nicky Deverdics shot wide and Aswad Thomas headed off target before the game changed as Stefan Payne was sent off for a kick on Lee Minshull after an initial foul.

The Ravens then seized the initiative with Moses Emmanuel hitting a powerful effort which was parried by Andy Rafferty only for Adam Cunnington to smash home the rebound to equalise on 36minutes.

Dover had a strong shout for a penalty soon after when Jack Holland appeared to foul Ricky Modeste in the box, but the appeals were waved away. Late on Emmanuel set up Steve Pinau but Rafferty saved bravely at his feet and then Cunnington went close with a header from a Joe Anderson free kick.

The second half started with both sides looking to attack, Emmanuel volleyed over at one end while Deverdics shot wide for Dover.

The pace of the game slowed for a while with no real chances until just after the hour mark when an Anderson corner was headed home by Holland to give The Ravens the lead.

Mark Goldberg made two attacking substitutions in a surprise move which opened the game up and handed Dover a way back in to the game. A deep free kick into the box fell to Miller who finished smartly from close range.

Bromley rallied again with Cunnington combining with Wall before having a low effort saved. Then on 78minutes The Ravens took the lead again as another Anderson corner was headed in by sub Recce Prestedge with his first touch after coming on.

Dover pressed back again with Sean Raggett heading over and Jack Parkinson having a header saved by Julian, but Bromley held out for the win.

The Ravens now travel to Eastleigh with four points from their holiday games and a much more positive vibe about the club after a difficult couple of months in their debut National League season.
