Vetokele signs for Charlton

Belgian football journalist, Sven Claes, has Tweeted that Igor Vetokele has passed his medical and signed a five-year deal at The Valley.

Claes has quoted the fee as being three million Euros, which is considerably in excess of £2m at the current exchange rate.

It is unlikely that the fee will be officially disclosed but the figure Claes is quoting does seem to be higher than expected.

Brentford, Blackpool, Charlton and Leeds are said to be interested in signing Leyton Orient midfielder, Romain Vincelot. Vincelot was on the Addicks’ radar in the summer of 2011, but the Frenchman moved to Brighton.

Vincelot spent two years at Dagenham & Redbridge, making 55 appearances and scoring 13 goals. His move to Brighton never really worked out, the 28-year-old made just 15 appearances in his two year stay and was loaned to Gillingham, where he made 9 appearances.

Vincelot joined Leyton Orient in the summer of 2012 and was prominent in Orient’s fine 2013/14 campaign. In total, he made 54 appearances for Orient, scoring just once.

Cameron Stewart played 18 games on loan for Charlton in the first part of last season, scoring 3 goals. Leeds loaned him from Hull in January, with the deal set to become permanent this summer.

Leeds new chairman, Massimo Cellino, does not want to ratify the deal and is looking to get out of it. Both Charlton and Ipswich are said to be monitoring the situation.

Another former Charlton loanee, Jonathan Obika, is thought to be attracting interest from a clutch of clubs. League One outfits, Barnsley, Bristol City and Doncaster, as well as the Addicks, are said to be considering a move for the Tottenham striker.

Obika is 23 and had two separate loan spells at The Valley, but was on the periphery of the team on both occasions. 17 of his 22 appearances came from the substitutes bench and all three of his goals were scored in the 2012/13 season.

Big and powerful, Obika is unlikely to make a permanent move to The Valley unless the deal for Chris O’Grady falls through.
