An entertaining and eventful match in Crayford ending with the spoils shared between VCD Athletic and Fisher in their Southern Counties East Football League match.

Both teams wanted the win for different reasons resulting in an end to end battle but a draw was probably a fair outcome.

Emmanuel Shoderu missed an early chance for the visitors before they went ahead in the sixth minute.

Vickers goalkeeper Daniel Colmer was deemed to have handled outside the side of the penalty area and was cautioned. Charles Yiadom-Konadu took the resulting free kick and curled it into the top corner.

Richard Jimoh had a chance to equalise when sent clear but as he rounded Sam Amedu, it ran away from him and he couldn’t turn it in. However, they did level on the fifteenth minute. Simon Gyimaha crossed and Bethel Gboda rose high to head home.

Jimoh had a shot deflected over for the hosts before Yiadom-Konadu was unable to keep his shot down at the other end.

Shoderu had a low shot kept out by Colmer at the near post before Conor Darwish went down injured from a crunching challenge causing a lengthy stoppage. Eventually, he was stretchered off and replaced by Joseph Koroma.

In the fifth of the twelve first half additional minutes, Fisher went back ahead. A corner wasn’t cleared fully and Yiadom-Konadu put it back into the middle for Mark Chidi to head home.

After the break Andres Tobon had a shot deflected wide for Fisher before George Whiteloch drew a good save out of Sam Amedu. Yiadom-Konadu had a shot blocked out as far as Koroma and Colmer made an excellent save to keep out his shot.

Ben Fitchett turned and fired over for the Vickers from twenty-five yards before they levelled again with just under twenty minutes remaining. Jimoh blocked a clearance before turning his man and firing home from the edge of the penalty area.

Nine minutes were left on the clock when Fisher were reduced to ten men. The already booked Yiadom-Konadu stopped a quick Vickers break illegally and gave the referee no option but to show him a second yellow card. 

Despite being short handed, Fisher refused to sit back on their point and searched for a winner and it took a good save by Colmer from Chidi’s header to keep them out.

Amedu then made a flying save from Fitchett’s shot and Gboda hit the outside of the post with his follow up.

One more chance fell to Fisher in injury time but Koroma’s shot whistled wide and the two teams had to settle for a point apiece.
