Former Charlton CEO, Peter Varney, has been appointed to a similar role with KEH Sports, and will be responsible for overseeing their operations in British football.
KEH – Kuwaiti European Holding – have just launched their sports subsidary company and saw Varney as the ideal man to head it up.
KEH’s chairman,Doctor Abdullah Alhumaidi had this to say about the appointment:
“We are delighted to have secured the services of Peter Varney to this key new role in UK operations. He has a wealth of experience in the football sector and I very much look forward to working with him on our proposed range of current and future football related projects.”
Organisations are only allowed to own one English club and with speculation rife that Charlton are up for sale, the rumour mill will go into overdrive now the news of Varney’s appointment has broken.
The summer will be a fascinating time at The Valley.
