Charlton were due to clash with Milton Keynes Dons at The Valley on Saturday, but the game has been called off due to international call ups.
Josh Magennis, Jordan Botaka, Ezri Konsa and Jay Dasilva have all been selected by their countries.
The Addicks are currently 15th in the League One table, with the Dons immediately below them, the pair are only seperated by goal difference.
Charlton – correctly – lost no time in applying to have the game deferred, and it will now be played on Tuesday 4 April.
Karl Robinson’s side have played 11 games in 35 days, and the two week break will give his battle weary troops valuable recovery time.
Also, players such as Magennis, Jason Pearce and Joe Aribo may be back in contention for a starting berth by then.
The Addicks are hovering just above the relegation zone, and could technically drop to as low as 18th by the time they play again, although it would take an extraordinary goal scoring spree by those below them for that to happen.
Swindon, Chesterfield and Coventry look nailed on to drop into the bottom tier, with those above them scrapping to avoid the one remaining relegation spot.
Charlton will probably need another four or five points to ensure their safety, and five of their seven remaining games are against sides that are below them in the table.
The Addicks still have to visit Coventry and Chesterfield, and they will entertain Swindon on the last day of the season.
Robinson will be grateful for the two week recovery time, and will be hoping that his team will banish any relegation fears quickly.
They are currently in poor form though, having won just one of their last twelve games. The respite will hopefully be beneficial, and provide the springboard for an upturn in their fortunes.
