Turner joins Daggers on loan

Gillingham goalkeeper Jake Turner has signed for non league side Dagenham & Redbridge on loan until May 5th.

Turner, 26, has played 67 times for the Gills since joining in the summer of 2022 from Newcastle United and penned a new deal in September of 2023.

He has featured nine times for the first-team this season, keeping three clean sheets in the process.

Jake joins a Dagenham side who are currently 20th in the National league table. The keeper follows Marcus Wyllie to the Chigwell Construction Stadium, who has already played three times for the Daggers having joined on loan earlier in the month.

The former Morecambe and Colchester stopper could make his debut at home to Maidenhead United this coming Saturday.

Turner’s departure leaves just Glenn Morris as the only senior goalkeeper at the club with 20 year old Taite Holtam expected to be his understudy for the rest of the season.

Holtam has had loan spells at clubs such as Herne Bay and Sheppey United as he gains valuable experience.

Having had a spell with Phoenix Sports earlier in the season, Holtam joined Ashford United in January and is expected to be recalled to take his place in the squad that travels to Harrogate on Saturday.
