There’s a bumper weekend of holiday fun in store for families at Brands Hatch this Easter weekend.
Along with the opening rounds of the British Truck Racing Championship, there are a host of activities including Monster Trucks, fairground rides and children’s entertainment.
Truck Racing is hugely popular with all ages and the giants of motorsport will return this Easter with up to ten thrilling races for the 1,000 horsepower five-tonne beasts. The championship is renowned for thrilling entertainment and the drivers are not afraid of a bit of contact as they wrestle with the machines, so visitors can expect plenty of power slides as they bump and barge their way round the Kent circuit.
The event will have a total of 28 races, with supporting entertainment set to bring the best of British motorsport to Kent. Entertaining the crowds between the Truck races will be the popular NASCAR-style Pickup Truck Racing Championship and Legends Cars Championship for miniature 1930s US Hot Rod replicas. There will also be a variety of saloon car races for the Kent-based Motorsport News Saloons, Cannons Tin Tops and Intermarque championships.
There will be plenty of local interest in the races too, with West Kingsdown’s reigning British Truck Racing Division 2 Champion Steven Powell moving up to the top class, whilst another former champion, West Malling’s Dave Smith, will be making his Truck Racing comeback. In the support categories, local ace Rod Birley will be looking to add to his considerable win record in the Motorsport News Saloons series.
The excitement isn’t restricted to the track, with plenty to do for all of the family. The trucking theme includes a huge display of up to 100 pristine show trucks, which will also be taking part in a track parade. Visitors can also see the racing trucks close-up with a free VIP-style gridwalk before one of the races on Easter Monday.
There’s even the chance to get in the thick of the racing action, at the Brands Hatch mini-Indy karting circuit, and there will be an assortment of fairground rides.
Adrenaline junkies will also thrill at the sight of the Swamp Thing Monster Truck unleashing its power for two shows on Easter Monday, and they can climb on board the Red Dragon truck, built to take up to ten passengers, for the ultimate joyride. Younger fans can even have a go with Mini Monster Truck Mania allowing them to experience driving real mini monster trucks around a dedicated course!
Younger racegoers can also take advantage of the free Kidspace big top tent on Monday with children’s entertainers and activities, plus face painting in return for a £1 donation to Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust. There’s also a soft play area for the youngest fans, an Easter Egg Hunt and the Brands Hatch adventure playground will be open all weekend.
