Truck racing comes to Lydden Hill
Truck racing comes to Lydden Hill

If you’re into your truck racing, Lydden Hill is the place to be this weekend with some great racing expected.Lydden Hill trucks Joe Wright

Two times World Hot Rod champion Malcolm Blackman is really looking forward to racing at Lydden Hill this weekend at the truck festival.

Malcolm reckons that “the tight nature of the circuit should suit my driving style and the set up on my car”.

Malcolm will be challenging the father and son pairing of Jeff and Matt Simpson in the highly competitive Quaife Intermarque championship. This will also feature the concluding rounds of the champion of Kent series, which sees Chris Brockhurst tying at the head of the table with Matt Simpson.

Seven class A supercars head up a strong 22 car entry for the Quaife Motorsport News saloons. Six of the supercars are four wheel drive turbo charged monsters, similar to the rallycross cars which are often seen at Lydden. Four Fords and two Subarus will be vying for the top slot, along with Lydden legend Bill Richards in his giant slaying Mini.

The crowd pleasing Reliant Robins return for a second year. Their three wheeling antics are sure to please the crowd, as they rock and roll around the 600 metres oval track. At the other end of the motor sport spectrum the mighty V8 sprint cars will be lapping the oval in around 16 seconds, as they prove to be the fastest cars on the track.

With more than 50 races over the two days, there is bound to be plenty of action. Treat your father to a proper “Fathers Day” present and head for Lydden Hill race circuit. You could even buy him a ride in a British championship race truck.
