This weekend the Swift Rallycross Championship heads to the Midlands for the latest round of the season at Mallory Park.
Once again Championship leader Tristan Ovenden from Canterbury will be back on track and looking to continue his good start to the season.
Last time out at Knockhill Tristan finished in third place, but maintained his lead at the top of the Championship.
Speaking about getting back out on the race circuit and Knockhill, he said: “Yes I’m always looking forward to getting back in the car, although it doesn’t seem like five minutes since we were on the road back from Knockhill.
“I wasn’t a fast as I would have liked. We made some changes to the brakes on the car and I just need time to get the setting right, which I hope will give me a little more lap time.”
There are just two points separating the top two in the Championship and Tristan is predicting that it is going to go right down to the wire.
He added: “I think the championship will be like this all season. Chris, Graham and I are really close in performance so I think it will be consistently good results that wins in the end. I think the swift class has created something quite unique in that respect.”
Looking ahead to what he can expect from Mallory Park this weekend, Tristan was looking forward to driving around a quick circuit.
“I like Mallory the two fast right hand turns in the lap make an exciting track to drive. The experience we gained from the previous round will certainly help, provided the weather is similar! He said.
“I’m pretty sure my main rivals will be Chris Mullen and fellow southerner Graham Rodermark. They are the guys I need to beat and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
