Chuks Aneke’s groin problem may rule him out of Saturday’s clash with Derby at The Valley. George Lapslie will definitely miss the game with a recurrence of his groin problem.
Lapslie returned to bench duties at Fulham after a spell on the sidelines.
There is better news for Lee Bowyer on the injury front however. He has reported that Israeli duo – Tomer Hemed and Beram Kayal – and Ben Purrington are all available for selection again.
Purrington has been a big miss. With Lewis Page seemingly always injured, the team lacks balance when Purrington is absent.
Little has been seen of Kayal; thus far he has been limited to a 12 minute cameo appearance at the end of the Birmingham game.
Hemed has also suffered a frustrating season. With Lyle Taylor still some weeks away from a return, Hemed’s availability will be a timely boost for Bowyer.
Here is how the manager summed the situation up on Monday morning:
“I’m not too sure on Chuks (Aneke) but the other three will be back for Derby,”
“George Lapslie has pulled out again with his hamstring.”It’s really important that Ben (Purrington) is back because that left-back position is where we are short.”
