The new Renault Clio Cup Series kicked off in entertaining fashion at Snetterton’s 200 race circuit at the weekend.
There was plenty of local interest on the track with a trio of drivers from Kent all vying for victory all with varying degrees of success.
In race one of the weekend Brett Lidsey from Dartford produced a stunning drive to go from seventh on the grid to fourth ahead of his teammates Graham Mulholland and Wilson.
David Pierce from Larkfield qualified fourth on the grid, meanwhile James Weston from Tonbridge Wells claimed victory in Class 4 in his rookie season of racing coming in eight overall.
In race two it was Luke Herbert who led the field home for victory just like he did in race one in the inaugural series, Wilson finished in second place with Felix in third in the second race.
Pierce came in fifth place just behind Andy Jordan with Pierce finishing ahead of his teammate Mulholland again for the Procom Team for the second race in a row.
Speaking after the race Wilson said: “The start went well for me, Ian Jordan in front had a bad start and that bunched everyone up. I went round the outside of him, got round the first corner and suddenly I was fourth with a gap behind me.
“After Andy went off it was the three of us and I got my head down to catch Peter (Felix). Two 20Ten team-mates on the podium is fantastic, I’m really pleased.”
It was a successful weekend for the three Kent based drivers and they will be hoping to build and improve on that as the season rolls on.
The series now takes a break before it returns for rounds three and four of the season as the Michelin Clio Cup Series with Protyre heads to Croft in North Yorkshire, on the 6th and 7th July.
