Skipper James Tredwell will miss Kent Spitfires’ game against Sussex Sharks tonight due to an ankle injury.Cricket - Friends Life Twenty20 South Group match - Kent v Middlesex - The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Canterbury, England

The Spitfires captain went over on his ankle at The Ageas Bowl on Sunday afternoon as they won their first T20 fixture of the season and despite a fitness test on Monday, Tredwell will be unable to play with Geraint Jones to skipper the side.

Meanwhile, both Brendan Nash and Mark Davies have been added to the squad to give Kent 13 men in which to choose from as the Spitfires look to make it back to back victories.

The last time the two sides met a few weeks back, there was a world record run chase in the YB40 game with Kent coming out victorious and they’ll be hoping for more of the same tonight.

Head Coach Jimmy Adams has spoken of his pride of the side doing well against Hampshire and wants to end the campaign on a high:

“We are all very happy as the lads did really well. I felt we posted a slightly below par total but we then scrapped away for our first win in the Twenty20. We gave a few of the youngsters an opportunity to play so that some senior players could be rested.”

“We cannot qualify for the knockout stages, so it seemed the ideal opportunity for players that have been doing well in the second team to come in – and they certainly took their chances.”

“Overall, the attitude was really good and all the guys enjoyed it. We scrapped for every last run and wicket and the players coming in enjoyed the taste of first-team cricket so it was good to get them involved.”

“We are all now looking forward to our home match against Sussex. Hopefully there will be another good crowd in place and that we can put on a pleasing performance in front of our home supporters.”

Both Fabian Cowdrey and Daniel Bell-Drummond are expected to open the batting for the Spitfires once again after impressing at the weekend with Brendan Nash pushing for a place in the side after impressing with the bat in recent weeks.
