Kent captain James Tredwell has returned to the squad as Kent look to maintain their fine County Championship form at Worcester over the next 4 days.James Tredwell SA2

Tredwell leads a 13 man squad that has travelled to Worcester for their latest four day game with Rob Key, Sam Northeast and Brendan Nash all returning after resting for the last T20 win against Sussex Sharks on Wednesday night.

With Vernon Philander’s short spell with the club now over and Charlie Shreck not included in the squad, Calum Haggett will fight it out with the likes of Mark Davies, Mitchell Claydon and Matt Coles for a place in the side.

Meanwhile, Adam Riley has been included in the travelling party despite the return of Tredwell who has missed the past few weeks with an ankle injury.

Having missed the last few T20 games, Tredwell is glad to be back and is looking forward to the side getting another win in the Championship over the next four days:

“It’s important that we carry on and keep the momentum as we ended the last spell of championship matches in good form too. We got the win at Cheltenham and then bossed the game against Hampshire – where, if we had maybe put them under a bit more pressure, we could have got another win.”

“There’s no doubt that it is difficult for the lads. They didn’t get home until midnight on Wednesday night. Thursday was a travelling day and we then start on Friday morning. It means that we haven’t had much chance to work on our skills so we just need to switch the mental side of things and at least we have players coming back into the group who have had a bit of a rest. Playing the youngsters gave them a chance to recharge the batteries and I’m returning from injury too.”

“I’m a little bit stiff but I’m pretty much there now. I had a final run out on Thursday morning and got the chance to bat, bowl and field. The ankle is still not 100% and it will need to be strapped but it is certainly much better so I’m looking forward to getting out there.”

Play starts at 11am on Friday and you can keep up to date with all the latest on our Twitter feed – @ksncricket
