Transfer window set to close
Transfer window set to close

The transfer window slams shut at 11.00pm tonight, and clubs all over the country will be scrambling to do last minute deals.

Ideally, Charlton would like to bring in a pacy goal scorer, a back up keeper, and possibly a young, hungry striker on loan.

If the club could recruit a keeper, it would enable them to send Dillon Phillips out on a season long loan to gain first team experience.

‎If two strikers arrived, Lee Novak could possibly return north.

The most likely arrival would appear to be a young loanee striker. Karl Robinson is an admirer of Wigan front man, Will Grigg, and Bristol City striker, M‎att Taylor, but it seems unlikely that a deal for either will be completed today.

Similarly, time is running out if the Addicks want to recruit an experienced keeper and find a club for Phillips.

A youngster on loan, possibly from a London based Premier League club, could be arranged quickly.

Robinson may prefer to go with what he has, and strengthen in January, ‎if he can not get the players he has targeted now.

One of the highlights of Tuesday’s game at Crawley, was seeing academy graduate George Lapslie make a scoring debut.

Lapslie captained the Under-18s last season, and is a genuine ‎Charlton fan. He had this to say about his debut and his goal:

“When the manager told me I was coming on, it was pure excitement. Some nerves came into it but, on the whole, it was just excitement.

“I’ve grown up watching this team, and to finally get my name on the back of the shirt and get out onto the pitch, I was absolutely buzzing.

“It fell nicely for me – it was almost like it was meant to be – and I managed to put it in the corner. It was nerve wracking, and I had to take double check that I had actually scored but, I was buzzing when it went in.”

Robinson‎ showed great faith in his youngsters, naming twelve academy graduates in his sixteen man squad, with ten of them playing some part in the match.

Midfielder, Taylor Maloney, was another who made his debut at Crawley.
