It was another tough afternoon for Wrotham based Airwaves Racing as they finished outside the top ten in qualifying.
After free practice Mat Jackson had not set a lap time due to the inclement weather which had the team on the back foot in preparation.
Aron Smith is one place ahead of his teammate Jackson on the grid as they line-up 12th and 13th respectively, as they look to cut their way through those in front to dice with the front runners in tomorrow’s three races.
Liam Griffin in the Addison-Lee Ford Focus S2000 is 24th on the grid and in fourth place of the Jack Sears Trophy competitors, he will be hoping to extend his lead in the competition tomorrow from there by taking further victories.
Lea Wood looked as though he was heading to be the lead Jack Sears’s competitors up until the last minute when Joe Girling popped in a stunning lap to take it ahead of him and the experienced James Kaye in the AMD Tuning VW.
Back in the NGTC cars and it is Andrew Jordan who bagged the fourth pole position of his career ahead of reigning champion Gordon Sheddon.
Teammate Matt Neal who has had a difficult weekend so far is in third place ahead of old rival Jason Plato in his MG. Plato’s teammate Sam Tordoff and Jeff Smith round out the top six.
Gravesend’s Team Hard driver Tom Onslow-Cole is seventh on the grid in his PPCB/Kraftwerk Racing car, ahead of Frank Wrathall, Dave Newsham and Colin Turkington who rounds out the top ten.
Tomorrow see’s three races as rounds seven, eight and nine get underway and after a rain affected Saturday, who wins on Sunday is anyone’s guess. You can tune into ITV4 to watch the events unfold tomorrow.
